Recently, The New York Times caused quite a ruckus when it recommended adding peas to guacamole. Even the president weighed in. And as much as I like peas, I agree with the majority of the people who just said “no” to adding peas to guacamole.
When I make guacamole, I use a simple, healthy recipe. Obviously, guacamole features avocados, which are incredibly good for you. They are chock-full of nutrients, including 20 vitamins and minerals. One of those minerals is potassium, which helps regulate blood pressure. And avocadoes have omega-3 oils, which are especially beneficial to heart and brain health.
Easy Healthy Guacamole

- Place avocado in a bowl. Add the juice of one lime immediately. Mash to desired consistency.
- Add onion, cilantro and tomato. Stir gently to mix.
- Add the juice of the second lime and sea salt, to taste. Stir slightly, just until mixed.
- Serve as a dip or condiment.
