The flavor combination of blue cheese and hot buffalo sauce is one of my all-time favorites. And I’ve found a great way to get it—without having to prepare or cook chicken wings…
Buffalo hot wing celery sticks satisfy my craving perfectly — and have me eating a lot more celery than I have in a long time. As a kid, my mom often made celery sticks with peanut butter and raisins, but it’s not a snack that I was that crazy about as an adult. But this definitely takes it up to the adult level… especially with the heat.
After reading about spermidine-rich foods recently — of which blue cheese is — I’ve been looking for ways to get more of these anti-aging foods into my diet. This fits the bill perfectly and turns a beloved childhood snack into one that may carry through to more “youthful” senior years, especially since it’s shown to help lower blood pressure too.
Buffalo Hot Wing Celery Sticks
- 4 celery stalks
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 2 tablespoons Frank’s Red Hot sauce or other hot sauce
- 2 tablespoons crumbled blue cheese
- Mix cream cheese and crumbled blue cheese in bowl. Using a spoon, fill the centers of the celery stalks with as much of the mixture as will hold. Drizzle with hot sauce, to taste. Garnish with extra blue cheese crumbles. (Plain Greek yogurt can be substituted for cream cheese).
